I purchased a Laguna Revo 12/16 Lathe and was very impressed with it.

Unfortunately it developed a clunking noise after a few weeks of use. I checked online for videos and tried what was suggested by other users to no avail so I contacted Laguna support to ask if they could help.

I was assigned to Robbie and immediately felt understood and supported. He suggested many things to try starting with the simplest and moving on to more complex part changes. The process lasted several months partly due to me being away but we persevered and eventually resolved the issue.

I was hesitant to send the lathe back due to its size and weight and encouraged them to work with me to send parts as I was able to do the work required which they agreed to.

I am super impressed with how Robbie and Laguna stuck with me for several months to sort this out and trusted me to do the work.

I would like to remind every one of the KISS principal. When the issue first appeared I checked all the simple things myself before calling for help including inspecting the drive belt. It looked good so we did not replace it. It would have been so inexpensive and simple to try.

As we moved onto bigger and more complex items and eliminated them one by one there was simply nothing left that could cause the clunking and noise.

That’s when Robbie and the team at Laguna put their heads together. Based on all the information and videos I sent to them they concluded that it must be the drive belt.

They sent me a new belt which I installed and the clunking and noise disappeared. I was so happy but also surprised as the belt was new and appeared to be in good condition.

It is difficult for me to understand how a new belt could have caused such a serious clunking and noise that reverberated through the entire lathe but it did.

This is good information for Robbie, Laguna and anyone else out there with a lathe of any brand as belts are common.
